Müller put Bayern ahead in the 83rd minute and Drogba equalized in the 88th. In extra time Drogba fouled Ribéry to concede a penalty, but Čech kept out Robben's kick. In the shoot-out, after a Čech save, Drogba converted the last kick to bring Chelsea their first title.

As a special measure after the suspension, the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final were gathered in Lisbon and played as single matches. Bayern beat Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the final to finish the campaign with 11 wins from 11. The outstanding round-of-16 second legs were not converted into single matches.

In the 59th minute Valverde delivered from the right and Vinícius finished at the far post — the only goal of the match. Courtois made nine saves, including turning a Mané shot onto the post, and was named UEFA's player of the match. The match went to neither extra time nor penalties.

Under the new format, 36 clubs sit in a single table and each plays eight different opponents. Clubs 1st to 8th go straight to the round of 16, and those 9th to 24th enter a two-legged knockout play-off. Twelfth falls in that range. Clubs from 25th down are eliminated and do not transfer to the Europa League.

Doué assisted Hakimi's opener in the 12th minute and scored himself in the 20th and 63rd. Paris won 5-0 for the club's first European title, and the five-goal margin is the largest in a European Cup or Champions League final. Doué's own record was two goals and an assist.
