Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Quiz | Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc Episodes 1–10: Final Selection and Asakusa

Tanjiro is not present during the attack because he has gone to town to sell charcoal. After returning, he carries Nezuko, the only family member still alive, down the snowy mountain in an attempt to save her. She transforms and attacks him on the way. His refusal to abandon her begins the journey that follows.

Giyu directs the siblings toward Mt. Sagiri. During the night, Tanjiro smells blood coming from a temple and approaches because someone may be injured, only to encounter a man-eating demon. Mt. Fujikasane is the later site of Final Selection, while the northwestern town and Asakusa are mission locations after he becomes a Demon Slayer.

Urokodaki trains Tanjiro through a trap-filled mountain descent, sword practice, training under a waterfall, breathing techniques, and more. These exercises build the foundation for Final Selection. Kasugai Crows and sword ore become relevant only after a candidate survives the selection, so they are not part of this training program.

Final Selection takes place on Mt. Fujikasane, and candidates pass by surviving among the demons for seven days. It is not simply a contest to kill a fixed number of demons. Tanjiro advances using the breathing techniques and forms he learned, but he also encounters a grotesque demon that should not be on the mountain.

Each survivor receives a Demon Slayer Corps uniform and a Kasugai Crow that serves as a messenger. What the survivors choose at this stage is not a finished sword but the ore that will be used to make their own Nichirin Swords. The distinction is between issued equipment and personally selected sword material.

Tanjiro's first mission sends him to a northwestern town where girls have been disappearing each night. There he meets the devastated Kazumi, whose fiancée has been taken, and investigates using the scent of a demon as a clue. Asakusa is the location of his next mission, where he meets Tamayo and Yushiro.

When Nezuko stands against the demons, Tanjiro recognizes that she is not limited to being protected. He can therefore leave part of the fight above ground and pursue one of the split demons into the swamp. Reassessing an ally's capabilities makes it possible to divide roles against multiple enemies.

Rather than fighting Tanjiro directly, Muzan transforms a passing human into a demon and creates chaos in the street. Tanjiro cannot simply abandon the newly transformed person, so the emergency disrupts his pursuit. The concealing spell belongs to the house used by Tamayo and Yushiro later in the story.

Tamayo and Yushiro are demons who choose to help rather than attack Tanjiro. They hide in a house protected by a concealing spell, and Tanjiro's discussion with Tamayo opens a possible path toward restoring a demon such as Nezuko to human form. At this point, however, a completed and guaranteed cure has not been established.

Tanjiro uses Water Breathing forms to withstand Koketsu Arrow, the Blood Demon Art Yahaba releases at the end of his fight. At the same time, Nezuko continues fighting Susamaru, and Tamayo responds to the danger by using her own Blood Demon Art. Switching the opponents or responders would misrepresent the structure of the two battlefronts.
