Dragon Ball Z Anime Quiz | Episodes 19–25: King Kai's Training and the Start of the Saiyan Invasion

King Kai mistook Goku for someone seeking instruction in comedy and first demanded that Goku make him laugh with a pun. The physical challenge of chasing Bubbles began only after Goku passed this entrance test.

Goku's first physical challenge was to catch Bubbles under ten times Earth's gravity. The purpose was not to defeat King Kai's pet, but to learn to move his heavy body and adapt to the planet's gravity.

The next challenge was to strike the swift, flying Gregory with a hammer. Bubbles had been the target of the earlier catching exercise, so the two targets and their respective objectives should not be confused.

King Kai taught Goku the Kaio-ken, which amplifies the body's energy, and the Spirit Bomb, which gathers energy from living things. Instant Transmission was learned later in the story and was not part of this training.

Shenron restored Goku to life but did not transport him directly to the battlefield. Because King Kai had failed to account properly for the return journey, Goku still had to hurry back along Snake Way.

The two Saiyans used battle power as their guide and headed toward the strong readings from Piccolo and Gohan. They had not found Goku himself; they selected the fighters whose power they could detect on Earth at that time.

Nappa planted seeds in the ground, from which six Saibaimen rapidly grew. Tien, Chiaotzu, and Yamcha later joined the other defenders, and Vegeta proposed one-on-one matches between the six fighters and six Saibaimen as a game.

Yamcha had overcome the Saibaiman in their ordinary exchange, but it rose, clung to him, and self-destructed. He was not defeated in a direct contest of strength; the fatal blow was a surprise attack after the fight appeared to be over.

Krillin's attack eliminated three Saibaimen, and Piccolo finished the one that avoided the blast. It had no effect on the true threats, Vegeta and Nappa, simultaneously ending the Saibaiman phase and demonstrating the gap between Earth's defenders and the Saiyans.

Chiaotzu clung to Nappa and self-destructed, but the attack failed to defeat him. Piccolo's ambush then collapsed when Gohan froze in fear. Seeking revenge for Chiaotzu, Tien fired one final Tri-Beam, but he could not defeat Nappa and died from the effort.
