Pure Evil Buu blows Good Buu's transfiguration beam back at him. The beam turns Good Buu into chocolate, which Pure Evil Buu then eats. Absorbing Good Buu in this way transforms him into the more powerful Evil Buu. The turning point is that the original attacker suffers the effect of his own technique.

Piccolo judges that Gotenks cannot win in his current condition, so he tries to divert Buu's attention and create time for the boys to train. It is a desperate and dangerous delaying tactic, not a mechanism for weakening Buu.

Goten and Trunks train in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, and the battle with Buu also begins there. A destructive fight in that isolated space would not cost them cities or valuable facilities on Earth. Piccolo was not planning to settle the fight under tournament rules.

The Galactica Donut is a restraint technique that tightens a ring of light around its target. Although it temporarily limits Buu's movement, Buu breaks the ring, so a successful restraint does not become a successful defeat. The technique neither transports its target nor turns him into candy.

The ghosts explode when they touch their target. Despite their comic appearance, they possess tremendous destructive power, but they still fail to eliminate the regenerative Evil Buu. They do not teleport opponents or seal their techniques.

Gotenks succeeds in transforming into a Super Saiyan 3 and uses that power to reproduce Buu's escape method. His scream opens a hole in the dimensional wall, allowing him and Piccolo to escape. They apply a method demonstrated by their enemy rather than receiving outside rescue.

The multiple Super Donuts constrain Buu in a ball-like shape. Gotenks takes advantage of that form and draws Piccolo into an attack treating Buu like a volleyball. Buu was not transformed into an actual sports ball by a transfiguration beam.

The Super Saiyan 3 transformation ends first, reducing Gotenks's power. Fusion then reaches its own time limit, separating him back into Goten and Trunks. Two stacked limits expire in sequence and erase an advantage that had brought him close to victory.

Gohan's dormant potential was drawn out through the Old Kai's ritual. He did not gain a new fusion partner or transform into a Super Saiyan 3. The unlocked power allows him to overwhelm Buu, whom Gotenks had been unable to finish.

Gohan and the others escape the blast, but Buu has not destroyed himself permanently. He regenerates, reappears, and demands a battle with Gotenks, showing that the explosion was not the end of the conflict. Babidi did not summon a replacement Buu.
