Mr. Popo poured the Sacred Water from the bottom of the Lookout after Kami entrusted it to him, restoring the affected people. Garlic Jr. did not disappear when his domination plan failed; enraged, he reopened the Dead Zone and threatened Gohan's group by another means.

Piccolo and Krillin deliberately left Gohan's shield to break the stalemate in which he had to keep protecting them. As Garlic Jr. directed greater power toward pulling them in, Gohan gained a brief opening to focus his full strength on the Makyo Star, the source of the enemy's power.

Krillin sought the Mermaid's Tear as a gift for his proposal, but he learned that it was precious to the fish. His problem was no longer simply whether he could obtain the pearl, but whether his personal goal justified taking something that mattered deeply to others.

Frieza survived his defeat on Namek with a mechanically reconstructed body and came to Earth with his father, King Cold. Seeking revenge on Goku, he ordered his soldiers to kill Earth's population before Goku returned.

The boy declared that Goku was not the only Super Saiyan and then transformed into one himself. For Frieza, seeing another person take the same form as the warrior who had defeated him on Namek was wholly unexpected and provoked a furious attack.

The boy knew where and when Goku would arrive and invited the others to meet him. Several hours later, Goku's capsule landed exactly as predicted, confirming that the boy's knowledge was more than a guess. He had not summoned Goku or tracked him there by sensing his energy.

The boy's name was Trunks, and Vegeta was his father. He had traveled from roughly twenty years in the future to warn Goku about the Androids who would appear in three years. Defeating Frieza and King Cold was something he did after arriving, not the whole purpose of his journey.

Future Bulma built the time machine, revealing that Trunks was the son of Bulma and Vegeta. It can be easy to associate advanced spacecraft with Dr. Brief, but the mother identified as the time machine's inventor in Episode 122 is Bulma.

Just before Namek exploded, Goku escaped in a pod used by the Ginyu Force. It crashed on Yardrat, where the inhabitants rescued him and taught him Instant Transmission. The pod must be distinguished from Frieza's spaceship, which Goku had initially attempted to use.

Rather than wait for the threat to appear, Bulma proposed a preemptive attack on Dr. Gero before he completed the Androids. Vegeta prepared for the coming fight—and sought to surpass Goku—by having Dr. Brief build a gravity chamber set to 300 times Earth's gravity.
