Dragon Ball Z Anime Quiz | Episodes 245–254: Super Saiyan 3, Gotenks, and Mr. Satan Meets Majin Buu

Goku's role was to hold Babidi and Buu's attention until Trunks returned with the Dragon Radar from West City. Super Saiyan 3 was both an extraordinary display of strength and a delaying tactic that protected a retrieval mission happening elsewhere.

Once the Radar had been recovered, Goku's delaying mission was complete and he departed by Instant Transmission. Babidi then blamed Buu for allowing Goku to escape. After being controlled and criticized, Buu rebelled against his master.

Goku's temporary stay on Earth already had a fixed limit because he was dead. The enormous energy consumed by Super Saiyan 3 shortened that remaining time to 30 minutes, forcing him to pass on the essentials of Fusion quickly.

Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan 3 and shows the boys the strength they should aspire to reach. He is not teaching them how to perform that transformation; the demonstration is meant to overcome their concern about appearances and motivate them to take Fusion training seriously.

King Yemma is the one who tells Goku that Gohan is alive. Using that information, Goku searches for Gohan's energy, locates him, and travels to the Sacred World of the Kai by Instant Transmission. The reunion depends on both the information and Goku's own technique.

Breaking the Z Sword releases the Kai from fifteen generations earlier who had been sealed inside it, later known as the Old Kai. The cutting test itself failed, but that failure introduced someone capable of unlocking Gohan's hidden potential.

Although the basic fusion succeeds, Piccolo wants the boys to master fusing as Super Saiyans before entering battle. Gotenks skips that next stage and tries to challenge Buu immediately. Successfully performing a technique is not the same as being fully prepared for combat.

Instead of challenging Buu directly, Satan first behaves warmly to lower Buu's guard. His initial hidden objective, however, is to exploit the opening and defeat Buu through underhanded schemes. This early deception should be distinguished from the genuine bond that later develops.

The Old Kai begins a ritual to draw out Gohan's hidden power. Meanwhile, Super Saiyan Gotenks wastes time showing off and separates before fighting Buu. Living with Mr. Satan, Buu responds to Satan's words by declaring that he will stop killing people.

After the puppy recovers, the vengeful rifleman returns and shoots Satan. Buu heals Satan's wound, but his body begins to change during the treatment. Satan had contained Buu's anger after the first shooting, while the second act of violence against Buu's new friend becomes another turning point.
