Master Roshi required Goku and Krillin to bring him a young woman before he would train them. They rescued Launch during their search and brought her to Kame House, satisfying his condition and allowing their Kame School training to begin. The purpose was not tournament administration or a Dragon Ball search.

Kame School training was a program for daily life as a whole. It combined physical strength and endurance work with study, food and rest. Rather than cramming only special techniques into a short course, it built growth on a strong body and healthy routine.

Krillin's opponent was a former senior from Orin Temple who had bullied him. Dispatching someone he had once feared demonstrated both the physical progress and confidence gained through Kame School training. This preliminary bout was separate from his main-tournament match against Bacterian.

Goku reminded Krillin that he had no nose and therefore did not need to smell Bacterian's odor. Recognizing that he had been suffering because of his own assumption allowed Krillin to recover and counterattack. He did not rely on protective equipment or a ring-out rule.

Master Roshi recognized his students' progress but entered in disguise to show them that stronger people still existed and keep them from becoming overconfident. He was not assisting them toward victory; by becoming a high barrier himself, he extended their training into the tournament.

Jackie created a powerful gust with one hand and blew Yamcha out of the ring without touching him. Ending the match before an exchange of blows demonstrated the wide gap between them. The victory did not depend on hypnosis or the Flying Nimbus.

While airborne, Jackie fired a Kamehameha behind himself and used its recoil to push his body back into the ring. He applied an attack as propulsion rather than aiming it at Krillin. Returning on the Flying Nimbus belongs to a different match between Goku and Giran.

The tournament officials allowed the Flying Nimbus as a one-time exception and did not disqualify Goku. The ruling did not create a general rule under which outside vehicles could be used freely in every later match.

Jackie fired a full-power Kamehameha at the moon and destroyed it, removing the trigger for Goku's transformation. Puar had cut off Goku's tail during the earlier quest, but the final used a different solution: eliminating the full moon.

The kicks connected simultaneously, but Jackie's longer leg allowed his strike to land more deeply. Goku therefore took greater damage, leaving Jackie as the only fighter able to stand and declare victory first. The outcome was determined by the reach of the kicks and the order in which they rose, not by a ring-out or judges' decision.
