Ace is interested because Scorpion claims to have defeated the man Ace is pursuing. The victory is entirely fabricated, however, and Scorpion challenges Ace to make a name for himself. Ace does not obtain reliable information about Blackbeard's location.

Entering the ruins is not a planned investigation. Zoro and Chopper become separated from the group while dealing with the hallucinating Luffy, and the three accidentally fall into the underground ruins. They see a Poneglyph there, but they did not set out to find it.

Nami chooses the straw hat that Luffy regularly wears and sews the paper beneath its ribbon. Episode 103 has not yet explained the paper's full properties, so this is a practical way to prevent loss rather than an attempt to activate its power.

Luffy rejects not the goal of helping Vivi but her attempt to carry everything alone while demanding that no one die. He asks her to rely on her friends and let them risk their lives, while changing the target to Crocodile, the person creating the conflict.

Vivi changes the plan from following the rebels toward Katorea to going to Rainbase, where Crocodile is based. Instead of chasing one side in the conflict, the group will confront the mastermind who has engineered the division.

The cage is made from Seastone, which weakens Devil Fruit users, and Crocodile captures both the crew and Smoker, who had been chasing them. It is not a Marine detention cell but an enemy trap that confines pursuer and pursued together.

The king seen by the people is Bon Clay using the Clone-Clone Fruit, while Mr. 1 and Miss Doublefinger create real destruction. The false confession and visible damage combine to make the people believe the genuine king has committed an atrocity, provoking the rebels' attack.

Mr. Prince is not an actual Baroque Works officer but an alias Sanji uses to hide his identity. By provoking Crocodile and claiming to be at the entrance, he draws the enemy away and creates the time and route needed to join Vivi and rescue the prisoners.

The key from the Bananawani is a decoy, so it cannot provide an escape. Usopp notices that Mr. 3 and his Wax-Wax Fruit are also available, and the group forces him to make the needed key. They solve the problem by creating the tool rather than breaking Seastone by force.

Luffy sends the others toward Alubarna while he holds Crocodile back, but his attacks cannot hit an opponent who turns into sand. Crocodile also sends a sandstorm toward Yuba, where Toto continues to resist, combining the immediate duel with an attack on a distant place Luffy cares about.
