Despite his wounds, Zoro occupies Arlong on land, giving Sanji time to dive into the sea and kick apart the stone around Luffy's feet. Neither role is sufficient by itself. The rescue depends on coordinating the delay above the water with removing the obstacle below it.

Losing one set of teeth is not permanent for Arlong because they grow back repeatedly. He can even pull them out and wield them in both hands, so Luffy's attack does not achieve lasting disarmament. The explanation is Arlong's physical ability, not glue or artificial teeth.

Luffy does not see the room as merely an enemy archive. The bloodstained pen and Arlong's words show him that this is where Nami was confined and exploited for years. Destroying it both damages Arlong Park and removes the unwanted place that embodied Arlong's control over Nami.

Nojiko's tattoo is not a sign of loyalty to Arlong. She chooses to bear a mark too so that Nami, who carries the enemy's mark while fighting alone to save the village, will not feel isolated. The same outward feature therefore has opposite meanings as an instrument of control and an expression of solidarity.

Luffy's first bounty is 30 million Berries. His bounty rises later in the voyage, but this moment comes directly after the Arlong battle, when his actions in the East Blue first become widely known through a wanted poster. It should not be confused with the bounty figures of 100 million or more that come later.

Gaimon's concern is protecting the island's rare animals from poachers. Once he realizes that Buggy, although a pirate, is not there to poach them, the premise of their conflict disappears and the two get along. Gaimon neither joins Buggy's crew nor gives him the animals.

Although Mohji and Cabaji are the two intended contenders, a drowsy Richie interrupts the outcome and knocks them both down with one blow. Richie consequently becomes captain without setting out to win the office. The result does not come from a formal vote or an appointment by Buggy.

Luffy heads for the place where the Pirate King, Gold Roger, was executed. While his companions search for practical supplies for the voyage, Luffy wants to see the final location of the man whose title he hopes to claim. Zoro, not Luffy, is the one searching for a sword shop.

This is not a safe test of the sword's sharpness. Zoro exposes his arm to the falling blade to pit his luck directly against the sword's curse. The blade misses his arm, and Ipponmatsu, impressed by his resolve, gives him both Sandai Kitetsu and Yubashiri. It is neither a weight comparison nor a dispute with Tashigi over ownership.

Daddy's former opponent was Yasopp, the Red-Haired Pirates' marksman and Usopp's father. The encounter therefore becomes more than a quarrel over goggles: it connects Usopp with his father's reputation and with the resolve required of a sharpshooter. Daddy himself is not Yasopp.
