Even though nobody believed his warning, Usopp put the safety of the village he loved first. If he stopped the pirates, this attack too would end up as just another one of his supposed lies. Rather than inviting danger to retaliate against the villagers, he accepted the cost of his lost credibility and tried to prevent any harm.

Usopp's group assumed the slope they guarded was the only route into the village, but another landable slope existed to the north. The pirates used that second route, so the defenders were in the wrong place before the oil tactic could even be tested. The enemy did not simply cross the oil on the same slope.

The Nyaban Brothers took two of Zoro's swords, preventing him from using his Three Sword Style and forcing him to fight at a disadvantage. Nami tried to recover the stolen swords, but Jango slashed her while she was helping. Zoro had not lost his ability; his access to his weapons had been restricted.

With Nami's help, Zoro recovered all three swords and could unleash the strength that let him defeat the Nyaban Brothers in one strike. She also woke the sleeping Luffy by stepping on his face. Nami did not defeat their opponents herself; she restored both fighters to a condition in which they could use their own abilities.

When Usopp saw Jango pursue Kaya, he entrusted the three boys with protecting her. If everyone remained on the front line, Kaya would be left defenseless, so Usopp assigned roles according to the immediate threat. He did not order the boys to keep fighting Kuro head-on.

The point of Shakushi here is not merely its speed: Kuro uses it even though it indiscriminately cuts down his own men. Luffy's anger is directed at a captain who treats crewmates as disposable pieces. The scene contrasts their views of a crew, not their preferences for particular types of combat.

Zoro and Usopp's cooperation stopped Jango, and Luffy defeated Kuro. Usopp then disbanded the children's pirate crew. Kaya gave the Going Merry to the group in gratitude, and Usopp sailed with Luffy and the others. The ship was a gift after the battle, not plunder taken from Kuro.

All five treasure chests that Gaimon had guarded for years were empty. The long wait and the number of chests create the expectation of a great fortune, making the absence of any treasure the episode's central revelation. This is not an episode in which the crew obtains Devil Fruits or a sword.

Wado Ichimonji, one of Zoro's swords, once belonged to Kuina. His goal of becoming the world's greatest swordsman is also tied to their promise that one of them would fulfill that dream. Not all three of Zoro's swords came from Kuina.

Yosaku's diet-related illness and recovery after taking lime showed the group that a cook was essential for food and health on a long voyage. They therefore went to Baratie to look for one and encountered Sanji serving food there. Their purpose was neither to recruit a doctor nor to pursue an enemy.
